Don't you just
love it when things come together...when they are
not planned out by us but when,
by some other force in the cosmos, relationships
are formed, bonds are created or spirits unite...when, who we are becomes what we are.
That, in a
nutshell, is what happened to Valerie. Always
outspoken, blessed with a strong work ethic, an
unbridled level of energy, a knack for computer
technology and a desire to help people fulfill
their dreams she found her niche as a realtor. But
she didn't just take the course and licensing
exam. Instead, she first went to work in one of
the busiest and most successful agencies to learn
the business from the inside out and developed
computer/ electronic skills then beginning to
permeate her new found industry.
She knew that if she was truly going to represent
clients in the most important and sometimes
stressful purchase of their lives, she wanted to
understand the good, the bad and the ugly. She
wanted to be able to be an advisor to her clients
not just a chaperon. Then, when she felt ready she
took the licensing course from Tim Reed, one of
the most respected and knowledgeable real estate
experts in NW Indiana...and when Tim and his
partner Tim McColly asked her to join them she
knew she had arrived at the place where
"things just come together".
And arrived she
certainly has. Valerie has been elected to the
Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors
, MLS board. For the past 3 years, 2005-2007,
she has earned the coveted F.C. Tucker Top Producer
Award, as well as the Executive Club Award and
recognition for the Top Sales Production of her
office. And now, nearing the zenith of her career,
Valerie serves as President-Elect of the GNIARMLS
Board of Directors for the remainder of 2008 at
which point she will begin as president.
If you ask
anyone who knew her before she became a realtor,
they would likely tell you they are not surprised
by her success because they would say "the
same characteristics she has used in a lesser
degree in her passion for her boxer dogs is what
motivates her career". You see, since 1985
Valerie and her husband, Ken, have been breeding
and showing champion boxer dogs (Gold
Medal Boxers) and through painstaking efforts
have created a bloodline sought after by other dog
fanciers. But not one to cultivate this hobby for
herself Valerie has for 20 years graciously given
her time to mentor other breeders and pet owners
talking to them about diet, exercise, a breeding
program and the beauty and sometimes sadness of
whelping a new litter.
A few years ago
she even found a way to combine this passion with
her career when she conceived of the Canine
Commission Donation Program by which she
donates a portion of her real estate commission
fee to a charity selected by her client.
